Pretty nice first shots, Papy. I'll be watching for masterpieces to be coming from you and your new Rebel. :photo
I think your bug is an old cicada.

The dragonfly shot still looks sharp. Might be worth a tight crop (at least for web viewing) :)
Keep snapping and posting.
You say you were on base? Which base is that? I'm Australian Air Force so just curious, also we don't have a wildlife reserve on base though we do have koalas in the trees outside the office every now and then and the occasional Kangaroo

I am USAF stationd at Barkdale down in Louisiana. Thanks for the comments I might try and enlarge the dragon fly the only thing that bugs me is its on the ground. I have photos of others on leafes and even a real close up of one on the bobwire but it didnt turn out well. Just wondering if you can figure out my job by my sig?
I just got back from down town with another 50 photos, I cant believe its my first day with the camera and I have already taken 100 photos with it.
Thanks for the compliment but I dont think I will be able to do any masterpieces soon I have alote to learn and alote of practice.
BTW wholenewlight: I like your car photos and 2002 Salt lake games photos.
I was actualy living in Ogden at the time of those.

Good job with these Papy! SLR's are a whole new animal and these are pretty good for the first time using the camera. I like the boat picture the best. Keep practicing!

i feel silly for asking, but this is the only way im gonna find out.... what is SLR?No Problem, Im probly not the best persion to answer but I will try my best.
Its a camera in which you view the image through the same lense thats taking the picture. It has a interchangeable lense. Is very adjustable say with the digitals you can change the iso speed (film speed for 35mm and others) which is basicly sensitivity to light. shutter speed which is meashured in time withing a second it is open. apacher which is how much the image it self focuses on the whole or on a single subject. And then white ballance. Im shure there are many more options and Items I'm forgetting. Actualy the camera you are after in the flee market forum is a SLR.
I hope I coverd the basics of it, and hope I didnt upset any body by getting something wrong or leaving something out.
