A leaf from my neighbor's maple tree landed on a porous white washed rock in my garden. I loved the color and texture contrasts and immediately took a shot of it.

This is a still life of a still leaf.

Very nice shot. I think part of the reason it is so attractive is the soft lighting - can you describe the lighting that you used to take this shot? DIffused sunlight, shade, flash what ever?

This photo was shot with a simple Sony PSC-72.

Pathfinder--since it was taken a long time ago--if I recall correctly, there was use of a fill flash since the leaf and the rock were hidden under a rubellena, a short stringy palm tree and it was slighty shady.
