Congrats, London wins 2012 Summer Games (http://apnews.myway.com//article/20050706/D8B5T2GG0.html)bid!

Okay, so it's a long way off BUT what a great place and event to have a photo meetup. It's expensive and requires a lots of planning so it's not completely premature to mention it now.

I went to the SLC Winter Games in 2002 and it was a ton of fun. I was thinking about going to the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver but London maybe would be even more fun.

Just a thought . . . :):

Here's a couple of my shots from the 2002 Olympics (shot with a cheap Canon s30 P&S):

Norway and Italy duke it out on the final stretch for Cross Countys relay medals (I know the horizon isn't level - I left it that way because i liked the candid, dynamic feel the shot had). Guess who won?

Lots of pics in this gallery, beware. Pics of familyand friends mixed in with event shots.

I haven't looked at these in quite awhile - brings back lots of pleasant memories.

ps. I'm the guy on the crutches in the shots :evil

I'll be there with my new Canon 50D and my 10-400 f/2 L. Put us down for a double room, pronto! If we hold the rooms now we might even get a better rate.

I sure hope I don't have to work that weekend.

Congrats to all of England for holding the big party.

Congrats to all of England for holding the big party.Surprisingly, we booked our lodging for the 2002 olympics almost 3 years away and bought the event tickets a little more than one year from the trip. But SLC had a limited amount of hotel space.

I was planning to take my Nikon D1000.5 - I won't need the giant, super fast glass - the D1000.5 will be the one with no noise at ISO 12,000 - great for the sports stuff!! :wink

This is a wonderful incentive and good planning ahead.

Even though planning soooooo far ahead is out of character for me--I will jot it down on my calender:):

Your photos from the 2002 Olympics are wonderful--especially your first shot. I like the smurred action of the skater , the silouhette of the crowd and the cacklight light on the American flag.

Great shot
