Snowy Egret: raison d'etre

I am not sure I spelled that right. I went out today to get photos of the snowy egret, I know where they are hanging out. I find them difficult to shoot. I have discovered that their flight pattern is like a drunk kamikaze pilot. At first I wondered who that crazy bird was, then all the snowy egrets came in like that. But I got a couple..........plus a gazillion of other birds.

I wanted to share something before I go to bed. These were worked up in my quest to find this bird, not oof, no blur, etc. I hope.......these work. I think this bird is absolutely delightful. Like a carefree two year old: hard to catch.

This next and last one for right now, it is a little dicey as the front well lit bird is clearly in focus, the others fade into the background........and they are not sharp. I called it Artistic License, as I do like it. A Snowy Egret, a Great White Egret, a Cowbird and another snowy egret. I think, they might be juveniles of another type all together.

Do you get any Ben and Jerry jokes? I keep wanting to do one, but I am not good at that stuff, just to let you know I think of it, though.

That green background caused me no end of trouble. Most of my woes this summer have been because of that background, not realizing it, and not knowing how to do the RAW workup to compensate for constant green casts.

However, I do like it, too. Especially when moss gets involved. These snowy egrets are just a B to shoot, for me. They don't hold still, or they do, but they look ordinary then. Don't want ordinary, want a snowy egret. I have another one, will post it with something else. But no flight photos, have had to delete what I did have due to blur or 1/2 a bird. They looked good in the camera LCD thingy, only in the PC could I tell it was an OOF, blur or worse.....

So, I guess my obsession will now be Snowy Egrets. And movement doesn't start in this heat until it is almost too late to shoot, probably part of my problem, too. Then it is a decison: I can stay to shoot, then walk out alone in the dark with all of my head demons................or leave. If I stay, I do risk blur. (Bill was with me last night, but he won't be again for awhile.)

And I get home very late, am very tired when I work things up, and who knows what I put up here. Dangerous to the extreme.

I love the fine feathers in the first two. The light in the third one is great. As I scrolled over it to write this message, I noticed that it looks good cropped to just those three birds, the light one on the left and the next two. Just love it.

I think I'm going to be able to afford a better lens sooner than I thought. Matter of priorities you know.:D Thanks for making me envious.
