View Full Version : Question about installing Google Analytics

Read the tutorial on installing the Google Analytic code on your smugmug site.
However, the tut doesn't reflect the way that Smugmug is now set up with the new Easy Customizer. So I've a few questions.
1. Am I correct in assuming you must use the Advanced customizing to insert the code into your site's footer (as opposed to the Easy Customizer.)?
2. Once in the Advanced Customizing section, you need to place the Google code in the box entitled Bottom JavaScript?
3. Where Mike's tut states to copy & paste the entire code received from Google into the footer box, in the Advanced Customizing Bottom JavaScript, you must remove the 'script type="text/javascript"' and '/script'. Am I understanding this correctly?
Appreciate any help. TIA.

it's not meant to be used with EZC

Just to confirm. There is a statement that says Do Not Type Script or /Script. (left & right angle brackets don't show up for some reason). I should ignore that and include those lines. Correct?

Andy's advice is not quite correct. The code that Google Analytics gives you goes in the custom footer exactly as Google gives it to you (with script tags and all), not in the bottom javascript.

Thanks, John. Appreciate the assist. Have placed the Google code in the Custom footer box. Will give it 24 hours and see what happens.. Again, thanks.

"that box" = custom footer box.

Like the tutorial says. I think it's clear now, but he originally asked in post #1 in this thread:
2. Once in the Advanced Customizing section, you need to place the Google code in the box entitled Bottom JavaScript?
And in post #2 you answered: "yes" to this question which left some opportunity for confusion so I wanted to make sure he wasn't confused.
