View Full Version : Slideshow issues....

I have had a slide show on my home page for a long time now, I had not messed with it in a long time either. A few days ago I added two pics to the gallery that the slide show pulls from. The two new pics display fine in the unlisted gallery, but when I load the home page, when it comes to those two images, the slide show just displays a blank space for the preset time, then moves onto the next picture.
I have tried doing a slight crop adjust so that smugmug would have to reload the thumbnails as I found that tip in my search's. But that did not seem to make any difference at all.
If someone could take a look and see what I did wrong that would be great. Thanks in advance.

It looks to me like you are using the very, very old javascript slideshow that is no longer supported and has not worked with newly uploaded images for almost 2 years.
You need to remove the old slideshow and insert the new one. Documentation for the new one is here (http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/3624147).

ah, I did not know that the old one was no longer supported. I like the old one because it displays on the iphone, the flash one wont. So I would like to keep the old one, is there a work around?
Thanks,
Tim

Tim There is no workaround for newer images.

I am REALLY disappointed in that. My homepage will look so bare and nasty without the slideshow on the iphone, I like the java version working on there. Is the flash one the only option if I want to change those pics? I want it bad enough that for now I may just live with the pics that do display and know that I am unable to add or change them up.
Thanks

Tim The stretchy version of the slideshow (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=143355) can display a static image automatically if Flash is not present.

Thanks for the help. I will come back to this thread when I am ready to sacrifice the iPhone view. I think for now I will live with the 12 images that are in the current slide show. If I get to a point that I really feel it necessary to change those images, I will move to the flash slide show.
Thanks again.

Tim It would also be possible with a few lines of javascript to use the old slideshow if flash is not present.

hmmmm now that might be a fair trade, the current 12 images for the iphone slideshow and the new flash version for the web, I like that. I would need some help in getting that figured out. I have lost touch with my code. Been awhile since I have had to figure this stuff out again. :)

Tim Maybe I'll have a chance to look at it tomorrow.
