I'm using a Vivitar 550FD Flash with a Canon T50

I started taking pictures then all of a sudden I couldn't take anymore pictures. I thought I was done with the film, so I took the film out, but there was more film left to use. I looked at the flash unit and the button that was lit was on ready/test. When I bought the flash unit, I didn't receive a manual with it. I've got film that is ruined now. Is there anyone that can help me. What do I do when the ready/test button lights up? I was taking pictures of my cat, because she has pictures on her fur and I would like to have T-Shirts made with her picture on them.

What happens when you press the flash test button?

Have you tried removing and reattaching the flash?

New batteries?
