The 18-55mm Canon lens that comes on the 20D sucks, but I need a lens with a wide angle, preferrably starting at 18mm or maybe 20. Any reccs for this type?

Thankfully, we now have MANY options in wide angles starting at the 18-20mm range. It may help if you could give us your max budget though. From your post, I assume you want a wide zoom.
Some wide zooms that come to mind (by brand)-
CANON-
EF-S 10-22 f/3.5-4.5
EF 16-35 f/2.8L
EF 17-35 f/2.8L (discontinued)
EF 17-40 f/4.0L
EF-S 17-85 f/4.0-5.6 IS USM
SIGMA-
10-20 (not released yet, but coming very soon...)
12-24 f/4.5-5.6 EX
15-30 f/3.5-4.5 EX
17-35 f/2.8-4.0 EX
18-50 f/2.8
20-40 f/2.8 EX
TAMRON-
11-18 f/4.5-5.6
17-35 f/2.8-4.0
19-35 f/3.5-4.5
TOKINA-
12-24 f/4.0
19-35 f/3.5-4.5
20-35 f/2.8
These are all the ones I can think of right now, I may have missed one or two. These list anywhere from around $200-300, and go up to around $1200 for a Canon 16-35 f/2.8L. So, like I said, knowing your budget is very important.
Hope this helps,
Mongrel

Thanks for such an extensive list. The one that caught my eye was the Sigma 18-50/2.8. I've looked at many reviews and it performs excellent and the price in within my budget (hoping to keep it under $500). Does anyone here have any personal experience with this lens?
