problem with white space under footer

I've just noticed that sometimes when viewing a gallery, before my photos load, the normally black space under my footer is all white.
As soon as the images load the black area fills the screen and the white is gone.
This doesn't happen every time the gallery loads.

noticed this on safari, and I think firefox...mac

I don't have an answer, but I'm curious. I've seen this kind of behavior on my site too, but only on Chrome. It's fine in IE7, IE8, and Firefox.
I hope someone has a clue for all of us!

I thought I saw this using firefox, but I haven't been able to reproduce this morning.
I am able to reproduce using safari.

I've seen it on Safari too. As soon as you mess with anything in the window, it goes away too.
