Had a colorful sunset last night. Tried my hand at processing them in Photomatix. I'm very new at this. Sometimes it's hard to stand back and know if you improved the pics or not. What do you think? Done or overdone?

I am not familiar with Photomatrix, but it looks like you have done a fine job processing it.
My one nit is that the water appears a little funny -- as if it were oversharpened. Otherwise, I like the sky coloring and the sun exposure. And I think you nailed the composition with the clouds stretching up and left to the corner of the frame.
Thanks for sharing.

Looks great. I would just drag the shutter a bit next time for smoother water texture. Otherewise, the PP looks very nice. :thumb

Cool shot, looks like a lot of purple, but my color vision is not the best.

Did you use multiple bracketed exposures?

This was 5 exposures at 11mm, f8.0, ranging from 1/25 to 1/250 shutter speed. I shot it as quickly as I could, but I let just let Photomatix handle the variation in the water.

Looks ok to me. Although it looks like it's been post processed, I don't think it interferes with the image.
