I've been a user at smugmug for about six months now, but never really checked it out here. I shot some pictures of my daughter over the weekend that I was particularly proud of and wanted to share with more people. :D

I took a peek at your gallerys and liked what I saw. Your daughter seems to like the camera and you have some very nice poses from her. Is that your son with her in the playground shots, they seem close. Nice shots definitely worth sharing.

Keep shooting and welcome to DGrin,
Chris

Aren't kids fun to photograph? She also looks like she enjoys it. Beautiful child.

as long as they are in good taste. Your gallery is in good taste so post away:D.

Again, thanks for sharing,
Chris

Note: I'm not an authority here, just calling it as I see it.

You mean for dance? Well, they're all children Alex's age or up into teens, so yeah, all in good taste. ;) Personally, I'm no prude, but I have a healthy respect for what I convey with my images. I shoot dance competitions and I have on occasion stopped shooting a number due to costume or during certain "moves". Perhaps that's not very objective, but I just couldn't do it.

You do see things through the lens that many people don't notice (particular when zoomed) since your attention (focus, haha) is truly on the subject. At one competition, a dancer's top had come undone and she caught the ends before it came down. Now, here's what was cool. The very next move was one of those spinning things and she was able to bring her hands up within the move and tie the top back behind her neck, WHILE SHE WAS SPINNING! It was the coolest thing.

Dance galleries coming up!

Welcome

I like #2 the best as is, but #1 recropped where she is not smack in the middle (horizontal and vertical) could be really really good.

Welcome!

These are great! You're lucky - it looks like she loves the camera. Most of our kids run and hide when they see the camera come out... :rofl

That particular image is exactly the way I wanted it actually. I cropped off a portion of the right side of the image that didn't have the "burning sky" and when doing so, made it so her eyes were dead center left to right. Top to bottom wasn't as intentional, but I was trying to balance the sky at the top with the top of her body at the bottom and that's where her eyes fell. You can break the rules once in a while. ;)
