Great pictures again!!! :clap
I am curious about the flash. Does using the flash distract the racers? Seems like it would cause a glare on their goggles.

Nope it doesn't bother them at all. It is gone so fast, they don't even notice it for the most part.

Great shots as usual. Composition, exposure, color, details, it's all awesome :thumb .
Could you provide a bit more info on the flash usage? I'm curious about shutter speed, type of flashes (off camera?), aperture, lens? I'm guessing some of these were shot using the FP High speed sync? Was a polarizer used for any of the shots w/o the flash? I'm headed to the Powder Mountain Motocross race (McGrath designed track) this weekend and I'm hoping to get some shots of the action.

Thanks, My shutter speed varied alot on that particular day because the sky couldn't decide what it was going to do. I shoot in Manual mode so I'm often changing speeds between riders as the sky changes. I typically shoot around F/4 or so. On this day I decided to shoot wide open and see if I liked it more. All of these shots were used with High Spee sync using a D700/Nikkor 70-200 F/2.8 Vr/SB-900 and some were with a polarizer and some were not. Like I said, the sky was changing alot. I used flash for all of the shots. Good luck on Powder Mountain and post what you get.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. Hopefully I'll get some shots worth posting.

Amazing work as always, if anyone does not believe in the power of the face and eyes pulling you into a photograph... The second or third one with the pink goggles that looks like a little girl riding looking at you is the photograph next to the definition in the Dictionary. Wow very cool..

Ha. I wish...
No, things look about the same, I am just now able to move my right arm a little so I cam type.
Stuck in a hospital bed 24hr a day, gives me a little time to check out the forums and see everyones new work.
here is whats up.
So far I have had 2 major surgeries, one to repair the front of the pelvis and one to repair the back of the pelvis. 8 breaks in total with lots of plates, bolts and screws holding it all together. As rehab progresses i will get a better idea if all is working correctly and if anything else need to be done there.
Keep our fingers crossed all will be good:thumb
Shoulder is broken in two places but are small fractures in good spots. No surgeries there. Just time and rehab.
Out look as of PT today.
From bed into wheelchair hopefully by the end of the week.
5 months total in wheelchair.
Start weight baring at 5 months
8 to 9 months till walking normal
Home from rehab in 2 to 3 weeks with wheelchair and LOTS of help from the family and friends
Keep shooting. And be careful out there guys !!!
Just remember, there is NO safe place to shoot once you roll your truck though the gate

I sure hope you heal quickly 'Scout. Sounds like you have a plan and a time table--which is good.
Any bites on the bike yet?

OMG, that is absolutely horrible. I'm hoping that you have a photograhers insurance policy! I posted a thread about it a few months back when I got it. It would help in times like this. I'm sure sorry for you man.

A few guys from ADV may be interested?
I have business liability to cover my assistants and myself from others trying to sue me. Also major health and disability.
Problem is no income from disability for the first 3 months, and a 6k deductible on the major medical.
Plus a 1k deductible on camera insurance since my Mark3 With a 70-200 2.8 with a 1.4 all got busted up when I got hit.

Glad to hear that. It's a nice bike for sure.
As far as insurance goes, it's a must have. Definitely not something to skimp on either.
