I like to keep my files high quality so save them at "maximum" quality setting so they'll look their best on my website. However, when I use the standard drag-and-drop simple uploader, it's now taking 3 hours to upload just 75 photos. Is there a quicker way? I don't have Picasa or LR. This is ridiculous and I don't have time for this. *sigh* :dunno Thanks . . .

Hi there. The upload speed is largely dependent on the file sizes and the speed of your internet connection. We do have a tip for a way to save your files which will dramatically speed up your uploads with no perceivable loss in quality:

http://ww.smugmug.com/help/speed

We'd also like to get a sense of your connection to us to see if there might be an issue. Could you run the following tests and let us know the results? You can email us the results if you'd prefer.

http://www.dslreports.com/linequality
Sign up and run the test. Registration there is free. After you run the test, copy the link to the results for us. That will let us know if there is an issue with the line preventing photos from arriving to our servers.

Try these instructions to run a traceroute on a PC:
http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/2959046
That will help us see if and where any problems may be.

Wow, this isn't my day. I tried the link below inside.smugmug and it's asking me for to sign in on an insecure serve. Forget that, and it didn't work when I tried anyway. Then I tried the "test" link and my IP address doesn't "ping." Thanks for all the help, but I'll just try to make smaller file sizes from now on. :cry

AHA!! That worked! Thank you!! I happen to have Elements 7 and I usually save as Medium files but for this gallery wanted Maximum. I won't bother with that anymore. Thanks again so much for your help. :)
