Hello,

I was in Philadelphia over the weekend during the heat wave. Whew! Took this and enhanced it somewhat, adding the lens flare. Taken with my Sony F717.

I realize it's not technically accurate with the sun glare like it is, but I thought it looked better than without. I think.

it feels hot to me- i like the composition and into the sun works well- however i dont think adding lens flare helps that much-my way of thinking is that if you can make use of natural lens flare then do it ,but most of the time it annoys me and distracts attention so I try and avoid it by use of lens shading and aperture.

being a photoshop idiot,i try and get it as right as I can in camera,and do minimal post processing,

hi Kevin - I love the color of the buildings and the sky together, very "Gotham" feel...however...the lens flare. The buildings in real life appear to be lit from the right...the sky is bluer in that direction and the sides of the buildings are lit on that side. If they were lit from more overhead, like the lens flare suggests, then the shadows would be much different. Both faces of the buildings and the lower set would either be totally lit, or in shadows (can't tell from the perspective the photo was taken). So, it confuses my brain a bit. I think without the lens flare, then one still gets a sense of the sunlight on the buildings from the extreme shadows seen. The lens flare is counterintuitive to me.

Where was the real sun when you took the photo?

Thanks everyone for your comments.
When I get home tonight I'll try removing the fake lens flare - I agree it's not natural and is a bit distracting considering the actual position of the sun (I think it was more overhead to the right).

I think I like the first one, but without any flare...it was something about the "steel-ness" of the first one I liked...the way you processed the colors.
