Reminded me of my favorite childrens book 'Charlotte's Web'. They had a silk line from the daylily to a tall cedar tree and beyond, and they were all travelling up, up and away. The very first time I ever found a nest of baby spiders, they were on my front door! Only takes about 24 hours for them to dissipate, but we had many, many orb weavers in the garden that year.
I hope I get to see them when they are larger as well.

....skin crawling.... great catch! Isn't it nice when you are there for the "moment" !
I'm a touch frightened of spiders now since those here in the Southwest bite with poison and those that aren't poisonous still leave a nasty welt. (let me tell you sometime about the 4 black widow females and 2 males so far we have captured in our 20x15 backyard!

I didn't want to know about them either...my roommate came home and I was like, "Check out this cool spider in the back" - EEK! We had to kill it and catch it to show the landlord so he would spray!
gads...I'd take orbweavers anyday..the babies look so cute! :):
