hi all :-) Great to be here and finally posting. Here I have a series called Urban Nature which was inspired on a trip to Chicago...first time ever in a big city! I'm usually out hiking or somewhere in nature and found the "nature" I found in the city fascinating. I was able to do some of the same type of shots I do whilst hiking (Tree Canopy, Waterfall Through Trees) I realize the photos themselves aren't too perfect, it was a cruddy gray day, and my PS skills aren't quite good enough to bring out more green in the trees and such...so it's more the "artistic idea" I was going for posting this.

I'm just seeing red X's in your post. I can go to your smugmug gallery and see them, so I'm not sure what's wrong...
[Edit - ok, now I can see the last 2 that I viewed in your gallery, so maybe the problems on my end :scratch :dunno ]

you must ensure that "external links" are turns *on* for the galleries you are linking from. go to customize gallery and fix that :D

'k - think I fixed it! Though sometimes, I get red X boxes and all I do is right-click and choose Show Picture and it pops in. I think it's an IE bug or something. But, I did have ext links turned off...so...all should be fine now. thanks for letting me know :-)

hiya! Thanks for "liking" the photos! In particular, I'd like to ask a general sort of question. The answers will help me in the future, as, I tend to shoot on instinct on framing a shot, or doing post processing in PS...no real book knowledge or classes or workshops going on there.
If you say you "like" the photo...what in particular catches your eye about it?
If a certain photo doesn't "speak" to you...can you pinpoint why?
Thanks! It's nice to have a place where I can get useful feedback and also see some great images myself to learn from :-)

OK - I like that you set your sights on a theme and followed through (on most) with a nice mix of man-made and nature. :thumb
If you want detail may I suggest you limit your thread to fewer pictures and try numbering them so we have a way to reference the critique. I think you'll get lots of good feedback if viewers aren't overwhelmed. IMHO

Nice idea A.J. You may want to post a particular one you're most interested in getting critiqued in the "Whipping post" forum. You'll get lots of technical critique there.
In general, I think you need to increase the color saturation a bit on all of these and the first and last ones are a bit overexposed. I like the graphical elemens of the canopy shot the best.
