Just ran across these, taken sometime in 2000 or 2001.
There are some law enforcement people on Dgrin, aren't there? And bikers?
These were taken close to the establishment of the new elite patrol and quick intervention unit in the Jerusalem Police. A unique solution was neccessary for unique security problems.

There were initial mixed feelings regarding this unit - black ninja motorcyclists patroling the capital city, not very 'atractive'.
But they have been a great success! People have got used to seeing them and are no longer intimidated by their presence. Aside from quick intervention when neccessary, they also escort VIPs (Condolisa Rice was here about a week ago), not as part of the formal escort or traffic control - there are other bikers with flashing blue lights wearing ties for that - but as extra peripherial security.
You bikers out there - if you thought YOU were having fun, imagine jumping off in motion, chasing suspects, making arrests and shooting M16s from the bike!
Edit: BTW - today they have uniform helmets :D
