These are from the National Balloon Classic in Indianola, Iowa. It was a "night glow" event, so they let spectators out on the field after all of the balloons had landed. They all sat on the ground inflated for well over an hour. As it got darker, they all (~50 balloons) attempted to all "Glow" together.

Hi Shane, it's quite a sight to see so many Balloons all in one place.
The shapes, sizes, and colours just amazed me at the event I attended some years ago.
Funny how you get the impression in your mind that balloons can only be one shape when it comes to Hotair Balloons, but they come in some of most amazing shapes.
Glad you got to go to the Event and get some shots :thumb
Thanks for sharing ..... Skippy :D

I live near a small town in the middle of New Brunswick, Canada. Every September there is a huge local event that draws competitors from around the globe with their assorted balloons. I've never gone to the 'glow' (although now I'm inspired to get there this year) but our farm is on their flight path so I have tons of shots of them flying over.
We've had a couple land in the pasture - which really impresses my horse (not!). - but the free champagne helps :clap
Nice set!
Here's last year's gallery. http://imagesbyceci.smugmug.com/gallery/6047029_v5hrd/1/378845828_sCAxp

We have had many landings at my parents farm. The balloons like to "skim" and "wet their feet" in our small lake, and many of them had landed afterward. So we had had quite a few "champagne apologies". The balloons are so beautiful, its hard to be upset with their unplanned visits
This event in Iowa used to be one of the largest, but I believe that now New Mexico is now the host to the largest event.
