View Full Version : Can't seem to make a watermark...

Ok, I followed the tutorial and make my watermark in PS, just a text layer on a transparent background, saved as png-24 with "transparency" checked. I also tried changing "matte" from white (the default) to "none". Anyway when I upload the watermark it shows up normally with a black background (the color of my website background). However when I go to convert it to a watermark, this is what shows up:

Any ideas? This is extremely frustrating as I just finished uploading all the photos from a wedding and this watermark issue is the only thing keeping me from making the gallery public and sending a link to the B&G.

Tim, I made one for you - try watermark2 and let me know?

Well, I tried it but it looks identical to the one watermark I already had that I made about a year ago, and wanted to replace... it just said "© Tim Kamppinen" minus the "Photography"... and I also wanted to tweak the opacity and try putting it in different locations... In short, I'm still where I started. I really don't get it. I tried making a whole new .png from scratch and uploading to the "My Smugmug Site Files" gallery instead of my "Watermarks" gallery. Still didn't work. Every time it looks different but it's still FUBAR in one way or another. Is this something that anyone else has experienced in the past?

Ok, it's definitely not something that I'm doing wrong in PS, because I tried one of the stock Smugmug watermarks that are available for download, and got this:

Something's seriously wrong here...

Ok, just to add another twist to this bizzare story, I took one of my FUBAR watermarks and went ahead and made it into a watermark anyway. I applied it to an image in a gallery... lo and behold, it look fine when it's actually applied. It just looks totally wrecked in the preview...
I guess this means my problem is solved... but something is still messed up...
