What's the real max image size?

I found out yesterday that images a little larger than 8mb can be uploaded...so....what's the real max image size?

Richard According to one of the smugmug help pages "The current size limitations are 8 megabytes for standard and power users, 16 for pros — and 48 megapixels for all users."
