I am wanting to rebuild my site in the wide format....but have a question about my banner.
I am currently using my jpeg banner as my navbar via slices. Does anyone know if this would work in a wide format. I know that this particular jpeg wouldnt get any wider, but if I did a longer one would it resize to fit?...and if so would that screw up my links?
Here's an example of my banner jpeg.....

...and my website is www.jkmann.com (http://www.jkmann.com)

A jpg won't resize. You might try splitting the banner and navbar portions of your image into two pieces. Place one to the left, and float one on the right. The floating image will change position based on the size of the browser window.
As far as your image map or slices go - are the offsets/slices relative to the image, or relative to the position on the screen? My assumption (which could be totally wrong) is that they are relative to the image. If that is the case I think it would work as a floating image.

That all makes perfect sense.....not that I know how to accomplish some of it, but it sounds reasonable.
Before I decide to keep this method (which I like the looks of) Ill have to give it more thought. One other thing Id like to do is to get my blogger to match my site, and when I did a test run in blogger with my current banner I couldn't get it to function...so....I really need to decide which way to go.
Its all a bit intimidating...and frustrating....
My porfolio is badly oudated....my "services " page was never completed...my mailer is unreliable....and the blog doesnt match!!! Lots to do...eh?:wink
Thanks for your insight and reply.

When you're ready to match your blog, you may find some help in this thread - HOW TO match your blog to your smug site (blogger-specific) (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=101262). I'd recommend that you sort your smugmug site out first, then jump in to the blog updates.
