Sensor vs Lens IS Review

I found this to be quite an interesting review assessing the effectiveness of sensor-based IS compared to lens-based. There are lots of assumptions regarding which is better. The reivewers basically conclude that they are both quite effective with a very slight advantage at the telephoto end for lens-based and a very slight advantage at the short end for sensor-based.
The concluding statement said: "Our test results of the Olympus E-520 showed pretty conclusively, though, that it delivered stabilization performance in the final images very much on par with the best lens-based systems we've tested."

That's very compelling information Jonathan. I especially appreciate their qualified testing with the "motion blur of 0.5" measurement. That adds meaning to the review.

It's one of those things that's difficult to prove either way though as both types of IS are improving constantly. I'll take either over nothing because both types have nailed me shots I would not have otherwise gotten in past few years.
