View Full Version : Navbar frustration

I've been trying to add a navbar using the code provided in the tutorial http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/1932803
After following the instructions, what I end up with is a vertical bulleted list, not a horizontal list. I've tried several of the other sample codes with the same effect. I assume this is a very simple issue, but I haven't been able to find the answer in the archives (the navbar thread goes back a few years now). Help please? My site is www.rockskipper.com (http://www.rockskipper.com)
Thanks in advance,
Leslie

Is there any reason you aren't just using the Easy Customizer to add your navbar? It should walk you through what you need to do.

Yes, I gave it a try and wasn't happy with the limited customization options. Specifically I want to be able to link to non-smugmug pages as well as add SMUGSEARCH in the nav bar. As far as I could tell, neither of these options are available with the Easy Customizer. Am I wrong?

As far as I could tell, neither of these options are available with the Easy Customizer. Am I wrong? It's trivial to link to non-Smugmug pages in the EZC. Just put the full link (include http://www.xxxx.com) and it will work fine. I don't think they allow you to put the search field into the navbar though.
As to why your attempt to do it manually didn't work, I have no idea. There is no remnants of any navbar in your page right now. The HTML is not in your header and the CSS is not in the site-wide-customization so I have no idea what you did wrong. If you want me to help with that, then you have to put those parts back into the page and then post back so I can see what you've done that isn't working. Only other thing I can do is point you to the tutorial (http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/1932803) and say to make sure you get all the pieces.
