Example for newbies on importance of uploading in sRGB format

This is recent shot of a Dahlia originally processed in prophoto RGB colorspace and uploaded without changing to sRGB(just accid. dragged it to loader)

These are exactly the same photos, only diff is colospace they were uploaded in.
Remember if its not in sRGB then the ICC data is dropped, hope this helps some of you//I have seen some complaints from some regarding their Smugmug galleries, I recently went thru all my galleries and found many photos without any colospace data( this is listed in exif data)...Again not for you 'old hands':): ...Mereimage

I have never downloaded in srgb mode and have ordered prints from smugug(ez prints) many times and never had a problem with teh way they came out. Are you telling me they would look even better if I converted and than downloaded or does smugmug automatically convert when they print?

Secondly will there be a noticeable difference in quality if I shoot in Adobe Rgb and than convert or should I just shoout in srgb?

I say I print about 50% of my photos (maybe a little less)and the other 50% is for the web.
I use Adobe 1998
I thought I had it figured out guess not
Maybe I should try sRGB out for a while and see if I can see the diff ?

Fred, when I process images I save my *.psd files on my archival hard drive in Adobe or ProPhoto or whatever. But for images that I plan to upload to smugmug, I go to Image>Mode>Convert to profile > sRGB and then save the file as a jpg at 8,9, or 10 quality level and convert to an 8 bit image and upload the file to smuggy. If you upload images tagged as Adobe RGB to smuggy, they will look desaturated and flat just like mereimage said.

That said, I import my RAW files in ProPhoto as 16 bit images for editing before saving as psds or jpgs.

I can use the Adobe color space on the 20d and CS
Then save it as psd ..then I can go two different routes
For web (Smugmug) use sRGB
For printing use Adobe.

One question if I use Smugmug to print do I use sRGB ?

Looks like I have to change my workflow once again :huh
I'm not complaining I just get set in my ways sometimes :D
