Hey guys. I have two questions about my map:

First of all, since my site never even shows gallery thumbnails, I didn't need a traditional gallery redirect - i just linked my navbar to my map URL. The problem I found with this, though, is that the map URL does not have my navbar, so the visiter cannot navigate back as easily. Is there a way to put the map on some page so that it's still inside my site, navbar and all?

Secondly, I have my photos arranged by subject and by location. To do this, I just created the appropriate galleries, meaning that many photos are in more than one gallery. The result of this is that the same photo appears twice on my map. Is there an easy way to fix this? I suppose I could just delete the geography of one of each photos, but is there another way? I'd like for someone to be able to see the location no matter how they got to the photo.

Thanks guys!
Matt

Matt,

By coincidence I just posted something that may help if you want to embed a map on a page in your site, mostly likely by inserting HTML code into a description for an empty gallery...

http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=138378 (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=138378)

Basically you can grab the geofeed from your map by right-clicking on the little Google Earth icon at the lower right of your map, create a map in My Maps on Google Earth and let it import the feed, and then use Google Maps to generate HTML code for an embedded map that you can put into the gallery description of an empty gallery or some other location. It isn't perfect because for example it won't update automatically, the map you embed will be whatever it happened to be when you imported the feed into Google Maps, but it is better than nothing... Also if you are only adding photos a few at a time, once you set up the map in Google Maps, you can add links to additional photos manually.

I use a variant of this on my site to display a map I have created in Google Maps to show locations of galleries (as opposed to individual photos), just go to my site (URL below) and click on map on the navbar. That will also show you what you can do with an embedded map of individual photos.
