That certainly doesn't look like a 40mph shot to me! Wonderful colors, exposure is spot on.

I have to agree with Mahesh. The only "right ways" to avoid the even split would be to use a wider angle lens or wait until the sun is lower in the sky. The first of those options probably wouldn't result in as attractive of an image and the latter probably wasn't even a possibility.
