I just had to see if this was OK, DOF, blur, etc. It looks fine, to me??? Except I do wonder if it needs more pop. That could be done in PS. Now??? Those babies, two, have their little mouths wide open. And I got a whole fish!

Oh, I want to be up front, I do crop the Ospreys. I will show you the original as brought up from RAW. Just this once, don't want to do it all the time. But I just think they are too far away, and on that ugly platform, so I do crop them.

That is how it came up, basically, I think the composition is the same,
just a little less of it. If bird falls on the ground helplessly, and I get a photo
of the same, if it is close enough, I probably will not crop it. After I take the photo, call the powers who be, etc............in that order.

This has not changed much in the final workup either. Maybe I need to do more?

Its a good capture Ginger. I usually crop most of my bird shots. The only problem was the one we all deal with when shooting wildlife and that is that the birds were a bit far off.

The ideal lens or most of our bird shots is 200mm longer than the lens that's on the camera.

:D I really like raptors, great shots. I'm still waiting for a chance to get some photos of the Australian Wedge Tail Eagle and the Sea Eagle.

needs a crop, try a vert crop, you might be pleased. needs loads of contrast, best applied through curves, but you know that :D

Hi G
Looks good to me
Got good feather detail, and on my monitor (IBook) looks clear can make out the colors and all. In fact JMO of course this one might be the best you've posted so far!!
Yes more contrast would help as has been pointed out, tighter crop too.
Raptors are tough, not just saying that either, you either see them to far away, up in a bright sky, hiding in a dark tree etc. etc.
Be like me just keep at it :thumb
Here I'll throw in one of my Raptors just so ya know I'm not talkin out my hat:
