Hello all. The wife and I went camping in the UP of Michigan this past weekend, and I of course brought my trusty Sony f717 along. Here are just a few of my shots.

The mighty Mackinac bridge.

The bridge at night.

We also visited Tahquamenon falls, the second largest falls East of the Mississippi. Here are a couple of shots.

I am a huge fan of lighthouses. We made it to three of them on this trip.

And here is a 4th order Fresnel lens, that now resides in the museum at Whitefish Point.

Comments are appreciated.

I am starting to get very distracted by the noise in the 717, even at ISO 100. I think I may have to drop the cash on Noise Ninja. Any thoughts on that? I plan to upgrade to a DSLR in the not too distant future, will NN still be all that useful to me?

Love your lighthouse shots Aaron! :clap I think everyone probably still uses noise reduction occasionally, just much less with dslr...

This is why I have been trying to organize a Mackinaw shoot but no one ever seems interested.:dunno There is some great stuff up North to take pictures of, but it can be very dependent on the weather. Our first night there, it was cloudy and grey. It cleared up around 2 PM. There is a state park just over the bridge. There is a great view of the bridge from the campground.

Thanks! The nightshot was tough to get. There was still quite a bit of traffic, and the headlights really distracted from the shot. Since it was a long (25 second) exposure, I had to just hope that a car didn't come over the top of the brige while I was shooting. It took a bunch of tries, but I think it was worth the effort.

I would be very interested if I had a little advance notice - say 2 months or so - I love the UP - skiing, hiking, motorcycling, bicycling, and photographing all of the above. Maybe a dgrin contingent from the midwest - Lighthouses are cool.

I liked the night shot of the bridge too!
