Turkey hen and poults

Finally got the chance to get some pics of wild turkey hens with poults.
Been sweating in the blind two days off and on but it was worth it.
The third shot of the poult by himself, I had to lay on my stomach for close to a half an hour till he got close enough for a good shot and the angle was right.

Hi.

I see you a new to this forum...so please don't take this as anything but trying to be helpful. To my eye, none of the shots you have posted so far are in focus.

Maybe if the shot data was available someone here could get you the info on the problem.

I don't think it's blur from camera shake...but without the data I can only guess.

They are sized for large web use? There's a trick to everything I guess including posting pics on these web sites. :dunno

That is a good possibility because they all look the same. You could try applying a little sharpening after resize. If you used Smugmug that would all be done for you.

Could it be the high ISO, 1600? They look somewhat blurry on my screen too. Just curious.

Whoops! Bud I think you hit the nail on the head! :thumb I forgot and left the A setting on when I shot those shots. I was playing around with the new camera trying to get used to the various settings. Wont make that mistake again.

I have never seen poults before. In fact, I did not know turkey chicks were even called that. I like number 2 best because it shows the whole family with the hen being mostly in focus. As far as the sharpness goes, they could be sharper for sure. There is a tutorial here at DGrin that talks about preparing photos for upload.

If you download and save the pics, you'll see he shot the last one at 400mm at 5.6 1/100, iso 1600. Looks like camera shake to me :wink It happens to the best of us, believe me :D
