Perceptions of Morocco

recent trip to morocco. Landed in Marrakech, drove the route of the Kasbahs to the Erg Chebbi dunes of the Sahara. Then headed north to Fes, Meknes, and back south along the coast to El Jadida/Casablanca.

took with me a 40D and 30D w/17-55EFS, 70-300IS, sigma 10-20EX, Hoya Polarizer, Slik Tripod, Extreme III CF, Mercury-on-the-Go hard drive backup. All carried in ThinkTankPhoto bags.

the 40D wigged out on me on Day 1 in Marrakech and by Day 2 I stopped using it (repeated error 99's). Due to this, I missed numerous shots due to the errors as well as not being able to have 2 bodies for various shooting situations that required a wide and long lens at immediate disposal, no times for lens changing. the 30D made it the whole trip.

I like the alley way shots, but some shots have too much tilt for my taste.
the tilt is definitely an acquired taste, and it can work great with patterns and lines - but 'too much' is pretty much the only way to do it.

if you are going to tilt a shot, you have to be a bit dramatic. if you only tilt a little bit, it just looks like you screwed up holding the camera straight.

at the full gallery of edits done so far, perhaps every page of 15 pics has 2 tilts on it.

some nice shots from marocco! ive been there recently as well, some shots were really recognisable! I agree with above poster about the tilt though.. IMO the tilt is kind of random some times, not really adding anything to the shot but rather a funky effect.. :rolleyes again.. personal taste of course :D
