View Full Version : Photos show at the bottom in IE?
I have thumbnails to the left and when they are clicked on the photos should show just to the right. All of a sudden now...in IE 8 they are showing at the bottom. I've had IE 8 for a few days but things were fine before today. Now... it is acting goofy. Everything looks fine in Firefox.:dunno

Find the browser zoom setting and set it back to normal or 100%. This commonly happens when the browser gets zoomed to something larger than 100%.

Thanks! I had it set to 100% but changed it to 125%. Who would have known? I'm glad I use Firefox:D but I hope viewers who use IE 8 can figure that out! Is there a script smug can make for IE8 to automatically configure that?

Is there a script smug can make for IE8 to automatically configure that? No auto configuration that I know of, but we have asked Smugmug to try to change their site so it isn't vulnerable to this issue. It has to do with how their CSS layout works on that page and how the browser scales the page (each does it somewhat differently) and how their javascript for setting sizes of things in the dynamic layout works. Fairly complicated actually, but probably something that could be fixed.

Its some kind of smugmug fault , - its already been reported in another thread. I also have the same problem when I view Eia's gallery. Win XP, IE8, 21"CRT. Adjusting magnification to 125% cures the problem but makes the text too large. Zenfolio still works fine.

I just tried it again, and it's working fine now, I'm not getting the Windows Internet Explorer warning anymore.

It ain't fixed on my PC. It still has the same error described in the OP at 100% screen res. Going to 125% makes the pic 'jump' into the correct position but text size looks too large at 125%. Win XP, IE8, 21"CRT.

Win XP, IE8, 21"CRT. If you're seeing positioning problems at 100%, then I suspect either the zoom isn't actually fully reset (sometimes there are multiple settings, one for page and one for text) or you have some sort of non-standard dpi setting and system font scaling. It should work OK at normal browser zoom. I'd suggest rechecking the browser zoom settings and if they have some sort of "Reset" option for zoom, select that. The "fix" referred to earlier in this thread had nothing to do with the issue you are mentioning. That was about a different issue.

This is the issue described in the OP:"I have thumbnails to the left and when they are clicked on the photos should show just to the right. Like the OP I have had IE8 running a couple of weeks in bog standard configuration, every other site I visit displays correctly EXCEPT smugmug galleries.

Like the OP I have had IE8 running a couple of weeks in bog standard configuration, every other site I visit displays correctly EXCEPT smugmug galleries. I'm just telling you that every other user who has ever had this problem has been able to fix it by resetting the browser zoom. Yes, this is an issue that Smugmug should fix in their CSS layout and I've been trying to convince them to do so for at least a year now.
But, until they do, the only work-around is to reset the browser zoom. Most users who discover this problem don't remember ever changing their browser zoom so clearly it can happen accidentally or inadvertently. If you're sure that your browser zoom (both text and page zoom) has been reset, then I have no other options to offer you. If you really can't figure it out, then contact Smugmug support directly at http://www.smugmug.com/help/emailreal and you can work with them directly. I have no further ideas - sorry.
