Hi All,

The photos below are from one of our side adventures during our summer vacation this year. My brother-in-law (my wife's sister's husband) raises buffalo in southern Utah. We visited for a couple of days and went out to the farm to watch the fun as he and some help weighed some bulls before turning them out to the herd.

I had bad light, a Nikon D80, a 50mm f/1.4, and a good time!

To clear up any confusion, buffalo do not really like being in confined spaces. The little guy below is the first one they got through. Once the rear gate was closed, game on!

The little one above sure made a ruckus. He came in at 925 lbs. Not bad for a young guy.

Now for our main attraction. This fella wasn't so keen to go through the chutes and past the gates. He's been there done that before.

A little motivation. The big stick is used for prodding, not beating. You don't want to get these guys angry!

Gate closed! I bet the bull is thinking, "Oh no you didn't!"

So, he goes onto the scale. Once the rear gate closed, holy cow was he in a hurry to get out. I thought for sure he was going to either jump over the front gate or freakin' plow through it. You can see below they are trying to make sure it stays closed. This bull definitely had more hang time that the first. He's a big sucker!

This shot below gives a good size relation between the two bulls. The big one came in at 2065 lbs. :bow
