I looked at him.....I got closer.....then he gave me that "Gull" kinda look, pooped in my direction.....and I gave him my "Thats Gross" kinda look :rofl then took his picture :D enjoy....... Skippy (Australia)

Cool Gull perspective. Yes, there are different kinds of gulls, if you have a bird book, note the red legs, quite attractive, IMO.

Good photo,

It's a Silver Gull (Larus novaehollandiae).

There are over 50 different species of gulls worldwide.

Did the bird look at your camera & say "Mine ! Mine ! Mine !" ?
I really like the simplicity & the sharpness. His expression is priceless :thumb:clap

I was hoping to get one of the other birds, but they really don't like you getting too close, the seagulls however could care less....... a nice big lens will solve the closeness problem for sure :rofl well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.......Dear Santa :D Skippy (Australia)

We have quite a few Pelicans too, and other sea birds.... they sit and wait for the boats to come in, it will be interesting to see if they continue to visit once the new park opens.

There are plenty of photographic opportunities to be had there if only I had a longer lens.....I even saw a penguine down there a couple of months ago :D

Harry's bigger than me, and I bet your taller than me too so you'll be fine with me competing :lol4 come to think of it most people are taller than me :rofl
I'm only 5ft 1 inch tall..... :dunno so don't lose me in UTAH will ya's :lol

Why didn't I get the mandatory butt shot you say :huh cause the thing was loaded I tell you :nod trust me I saw it :rofl

I don't know if it was a warning shot, but hey I got the message loud and clear to not come any closer :D Skippy (Australia)

Well now that you mention it..... no, the bird said nothing, just gave me that don't come any closer look.
The Pelican however was swimming near by, but rumour has it that Nemo's dad came and took him home :wink :rofl

I need to go down there when other people are there, they tend to hover if they think food is around, might be able to get me a BIF shot :D

Thanks for looking.......... Skippy (Australia)

They sure are scavengers aren't they, and boy can they poop a lot :rofl
I'd love to be able to catch the Pelicans flying, the numbers down there increase in the summer, but yesterday I saw only 6 out near the ruins of the old pier.

I need to get me a Bigger Prime my friend, yup a 400mm is on my short list :D

Thanks for looking Troy.......... Skippy (Australia)

It's true, seagulls they are to many folks... it's just kind of an evangelical thing with some us naturalist (US def: natural sciences student/teacher, not Oz def: nudist :D ) nerds. Many gulls hardly ever see the sea; did you know that the Cailfornia Gull is the state bird of Utah? :rofl

Thanks for taking a look at my site; glad you liked it. You're right again, I have a wonderful job. The photos ops can be fantastic and I do feel very lucky.

BTW, I really like your shot. Very sharp and a nice angle. Should have said so the first time around. Can't wait to see what you'll do with the 400!
