Got my new cam (K20d) and decided to take it for it's first real spin. Made all kinds of mistakes -- at one point was taking all images at -1 EV because I forgot to turn the bracketing button off :bash and then I started shooting jpegs instead of raw for a while. :dunno (think I hit a button somewhere.) But I promise I'll get better! :rofl

In the meantime, here are some swans and cygnets at Durand Eastman park in Rochester, NY. C&C always welcome.

"then I started shooting jpegs instead of raw for a while" Done that too! :rofl

Nice shots! You might want to try again real early, or later in the afternoon when the light is much beter.

:agree :thumb
I just hadn't actually expected to get anything usable on my first outing, thought I would share what I got. Thanks for the feedback.

Lovely shots Mark. White birds are always a problem in bright light. I tend to stop down on the exposure to get the detail out (what there is of it) anyway.

Last year, I watched two families of swans bringing up their cygnets. Fascinating to watch them grow and learn from the parents. One family were located in a fenced off lagoon. The only way out was to fly so the parents had to teach them to take off and land. This tuition lasted for about 2 weeks but more on that later for a future post when I shall attach the images.

Love number 3. Number 2 is very nice as well with the family "in tow." :rofl

Thanks for all the kind words.

@Maestro: it took me a while to realize that I now had 14 MP of info for more creative cropping and PP, (my previous camera was 6.1). Crop is the new zoom! :rofl
