Hi all,
I only had a very short opportunity to snap this shot of a leopard and I am sure I could have done better...but I do love the ripples in the water:D (Taken on safari in my home land of South Africa) I would love your thoughts???
Taken with a Nikon D80, 70-300mm nikon lens.
I have a bunch more of other animals, let me know if this is the right place to post...

Hi Antony
I too am new on here. Beautiful shot - not sure whether I should feel jealous of you getting so close:rolleyes
Here goes. IMHO any image should put across what it is the photographer was aiming for. What was important should be brought out. In your case, you were interested in the ripples resulting from the leopard drinking. The leopard in that case would not be as important and therefore I would crop off at the leopard's neck and make the ripples more obviously important.
Whatever, I like the image as is.

I really like the "Buff" pounding his way into the water! :thumb

A great series of shots. The one of the lion is my favourite. You really have captured that one well. It looks menacing (which of course it is) and that eyeball really gets to you.

Thanks for the compliments, everyone! It's a completely different story being so close to these guys in the wild, as compared to the zoo.... no fences for protection - in fact, that buff did not like us at all and started charging - hence the water spray. thank heavens for image stabilization!!
