Not up to Glenn's standard, but I am pleased to have at least one decent shot of this neck wrencher! Full frame plus some extra canvas for composition.

Normally I'd go after these with the Big Gun...but I got this with the 40D.

Very nice. Since you brought up composition, have you considered rotating the image ever so slightly left or right to make the birds wing not point directly at the bottom right corner? I'm from a graphic design background, so those type things bother me. Just being really picky though. I love the shot.

Thanks for the reply, Rob.:D

As for the comp...the bird's wing was touching the bottom of the frame. I added canvas and rotated the bird so that the wing would point at the corner!:roflMy thinking was to have the wing tip point to his pivot point on this banking maneuver.:scratch

:) Sounds like you thought it out then, which is great. I suppose I'll just have to live with it. :) Like I said, just being ultra critical on an already great image. Keep up the good work.

Terns are incredibly difficult for me. One day I may get one worth posting. Nice work on a difficult subject.

Now if Stephen hadn't chipped in with this I would have definitely chalked up your inability to capture a tern to the "age factor". :rofl

However, now I'd just have to say your tern is pretty dern cool. :thumb

Lovely shot. I have a few taken recently which I shall share in another post. They are very difficult to get decent images of but yours is a lovely sharp shot.:clap

You did well with your tern, Ric! :clap The one good thing about terns is that they look good in both overcast, and sunny light!

Yeah...I'd like this same op with a front lighted tern.
