One of my goals on the Atlantic shores was to get nice shots of Brown Pelicans.

We never get brown pelicans here in Ohio, and white ones are very rare.

I did see a lot of pelicans but always at to great a distance even for my 500mm, or I was shooting into the sun and not getting any color or detail.

Here are the best I got. I know they are not horrible, but they arn't what I had in mind,

Thanks for looking,

They're not bad, at least you have them in focus, :): but I have a pretty good idea of what you were hoping for -- but the light was wrong. Hey you do what you gotta do sometimes. Think of it as good practice for the next time. :D

I live here, with the brown pelican's. What were you trying to get?

I used to take photos of them, just because they were all over the place in the same place where the egrets were all over the place. I even put a couple in a challenge, first thing I shot with my 300 lens.

Now that place is devoid of birds, but I can find pelican's, what am I looking for?

I like your last shot Greaper. I got that dark thing, like in your first shots, I actually did get a wood stork in flight today. I didn't even know it was a wood stork til later. I had been shooting, and shooting, ad nauseum, a Night Heron, saw a BIF, took aim and actually got it. I was very excited until I discovered that it is underexposed.

I don't know how people do that. The Night Heron was exposed just right, I planned on shooting him til he flew off, so the exposure was set, and actually it is an exposure for egrets, just about everything.

But my wood stork, it is dark in all three or four frames. I might try something. At least you had a light head. I like yours. (It is better than my flyer.........other fliers are just fine.)

Hey Brian,

The last two are very good shots. Its tough to get a decent BIF when they are backlit. Once I upgrade my flash I'm going to get the Better Beamer to go with it.
