Check it out. Never bought from them them before, don't know their reliability.

A good sign: I ordered one, used an overseas e-mail address. They called to make sure I wasn't a scammer.

Never bought from [eCost] before, don't know their reliability.
I've bought items a few times from eCost. The good news is that eCost seems pretty reliable. But the less-than-stellar news is that:
(a) the prices aren't as cheap as they initially seem because they charge S&H charges of $3.95 and up on every order plus they charge 8.25% sales tax (to Califormia customers, anyway, which a lot of other on-line retailers don't have to charge),
(b) they ship from Tennessee, by ground, so their items take over a week to arrive in California. (unlike, for example, Amazon, which ships many items from Nevada so they tend to arrive in 2-3 days)
(c) If you're buying an item with a rebate, read the details of the rebate form before you purchase. One time I ordered a $30 item advertised as "free after rebate" ... but it took over a week to arrive from Tennessee and after I received it I discovered that the fine print on the rebate form required mailing it within 7 days of the invoice date (not date of receipt) -- which made the rebate impossible to redeem :-(. When when I returned it, I did not ask them to refund the $8 it cost me to ship it back to them (although I was tempted) but I did ask them to refund their $3.95 S&H (on the basis of "misleading advertising"). They refused to refund the $3.95 S&H fee. I wasn't too pleased about that.
So: eCost seems reliable but before you order (1) check the true bottom-line price, (2) read the fine print of any rebates, and (3) don't expect great customer service.

Yeah, shipping was "free" but there was a $7 'handling' charge. :wxwax

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, but I feel I should chime in:
I've ordered several things from ecost. Even with the handling fees they're prices are cheaper, especially the "blowout/closeout items". For example, I got a Sandisk Ultra II 512MB card from them 2 weeks ago for $100 to my door. Not bad. Shipping time is quick here on the east coast too.
they also have an 800 number to call and speak to a real person. I've called a few times and service was always great. Fedex once lost a package and Ecost sent another one out asap.
someone somewhere will always have a bad experience with a given merchant. I however have to give Ecost an A+
Maybe they just don't like you left coasters... :D

I'm not actually complaining. It was still a good price.
