The forecast was for 24c+ so I headed off on the GS this morning. The first port of call was Wicklow Harbour. It was foggy but it didn't deter the sailors :

If the fog didn't lift they could rely on the lighthouse to get back safely:

Moving swiftly along the coast road from Wicklow to Arklow:

Safely through Arklow and a stop at Avoca. The tv series "Ballykissangel" is filmed here. First stop was the river avoca:

Some locals enjoying a pint. Pity I was driving :cry

and a snapshot of the main street. I don't think they get gridlock here:

On the road again and I stopped at "the meeting of the waters" which has a nice pub and this memorial to Thomas Moore,

He wrote this lyric here in 1807:

The river Avonbeg:

You can't smoke in the pubs here anymore:

A gate lodge :

and, finally, a view of the Wicklow mountains on the way home:

Great series Shay.
I really like the first one. There is a sense of calmness and uncertainty.
I like how the fog obscure the horizon, makes you wonder. :thumb

I like the second one too but I wonder how the picture would turn up if you isolate the guy sitting on the wall.

If you're ever in the states, specifically my 'hood, we can go to a bar
where they smoke and 8 year olds mosh...no kidding.

Stopped for a pint and people were freely smoking and kids were
running around dancing. I swear (you've got to be 21 to enter a bar).

Good stuff mate...i always like a look at peoples local scenes.

24C ...mate did you have some thermals on ?? You get fined for smoking within 4 meters of a public doorway here also so they can think themselves lucky.

Thanks for the critique Bochie, I tried the crop you suggested but there are too many masts and other stuff in the pic to isolate him. As usual I just blazed away and try to get some kind of composition by cropping :rofl .

Here's the crop:

I really wasn't sure about the first pic, I'm glad you liked it.

It's funny how there wasn't much fuss over the smoking ban. The only problem is the smell in some of the pubs now. The smell of smoke hid a variety of unpleasant odours:rofl .
