:clap Wow aren't those great shots! I love the baby one. We saw one in Yosemite last week. Was hoping to stop on the way home in the Sequoias but there just wasn't enough days. My sister lives near Three Rivers, so hope to get up there soon. Nice captures! :thumb

Nice bears Ed! ...I recognize the first one...he/she is a regular.

The second one is way to young to be sporting an ear tag...looks like momma taught him/her some bad habits.

The last one is HUGE! Not sure I could hold my ground if that one bluff charged.

Does Sequoia and Kings Canyon still use the "throw rocks" approach?

We were told some years ago to throw rocks and make noise. The first rock
hit the bear in the butt...no problems after that! Of course, I was a little
frazzled thinking the bear would come back po'ed.

1st shot about 50 - 60 yards

2nd shot about 30 yards

3rd shot about 30 feet

Bears are usually tagged for a couple of reasons, for reasearch or to ID a "problem" bear. Since I had a member of bear management there with me, I know that this tag was not for research...

I didn't ask what he did but usually a probelm bear either breaks into cars, tents, buildings etc..

PF he's not really unhappy, just chewing on some grass :thumb - He was HUGE, and I was being extremely careful, making sue I didn't make him unhappy.

The big guy wasn't too interested in me, he was more interested in her... Quite the looker isn't she :wink . Where ever she went he followed. They did keep a good eye on me to make sure I didn't do anything stupid.

She had a radio collar on, she had recently been relocated. - She was a full grown bear, this kind of gives a perspective on how big he really was.

I got lost in the woods yesterday, but didn't see any bears, no rangers, either, so very glad I saw no bears.

I have a fantastic snake photo, my excitement in the woods:rofl , to show you. A bust if I have ever known one.

Thanks Ginger, why did I stop moving in?? Apparently there IS a limit to my stupidity, no one was more suprised than me, I thought I had no limits.. haha
