Another First Wedding Thread

Hey all, here's some pics from my first wedding shoot :) It was a really small wedding, so I THOUGHT it would be fairly laid back... not so much, haha. I had a great time though. I did experience some curve balls: the power went out at the place before the ceremony so the shots of the bride getting ready were by a window (which really made them better i think) AND when i was waiting for them to come out to get in their truck i stepped in a fire ant hill, BUT i didn't realize it until they had covered my shoe and started biting my leg. I think they are pretty good. I don't think any of them are "magical" or anything, but looks like a solid set.

curious -- how did you get the gig? I always wonder how people get their first job. thanks!

My first gig was the wedding of one of my son's friends. From there I set up a web page. Ended up doing 8 weddings last year, about 20 so far.

I got the gig through my girlfriend. Her good friend got married and originally didn't want to get a photographer, but her mom talked her into it. So they saw my pics and offered the job to me, and after I thought about it for a while, I accepted. I didn't want to disappoint her but all her family love the pics so I'd consider it a success. Plus it gave me a huge kick in the butt to get out and take more pictures.
