Hello all :D
I was thinking it would be fun to have people post a link to their first wedding shoot and thier most recent shoot along with the dates of each-- I'm sure everyone has come a long way! --Lisa

This is my favorite shot from my first wedding on August 9, 2008:

I edited out a back that was in the background. Oh, and this was only last August. I've shot five weddings so far and have another 10 this year.

Here is one from my last wedding that I've finished editing. Still working on last weekend's set.

Right at the end of the ceremony, hence all the people shadows.

Ha ha! Great idea for a thread!

I guess I was one lucky lady. I still love most of the photos from my first wedding in 2004. Still shooting film then, and I borrowed a digital camera for 1 week for this wedding. :huh That was back when early rebels were costing over $1000........Boy was I lucky I had them turn out!

1st wedding: (Not too bad, really considering I had no flash and no clue how to use one... kit lenses...etc... Scary!)

It's hard to remember now, but I believe I this is from my first wedding - I do know it was all Tri-X, all the time - and I'm still more than satisfied with it.:wink

This is a great idea for a thread :D

B D I actually think both then/now photos offer something really great. They just seem to be opposite ends of the spectrum, unless I'm missing something. :lol3

I wouldn't really argue with you. That one from the first wedding is one of my all time favorites. But I do like this latest batch.

Well, in terms of lighting they certainly are - at different ends of the spectrum. But otherwise I don't think that first shot is that far removed from the black and whites. Or is it? :dunno

I have shot exactly one wedding and I was an accidental wedding photographer.

Thanks! I'm so glad people are posting on it!!! I was hoping more for links to galleries than singular images, b/c I think what improves most is consistancy, but this is cool, too. I bet many have deleted thier first wedding by now anyway, which would make it difficult to post, lol.

Thanks, Jeff! I'm pretty excited about it :) I saw a similar photo on Ben Chrisman's site and while mine turned out very different, it's just an example of how beneficial it is to regularly peruse the masters for creative juice!

I wish we had clouds here in So Cal. All we ever have is clear blue sky or haze. I would kill for the opportunity to take a shot like that. I could not agree more about perusing others work before shoots. Thetre are so many great wedding photographers out there I get inspiration from, including you. Thanks!!

Wow, this has given me hope!

I have my first wedding in October; I responded to an add looking for a cheap (read: free would be nice) photographer looking to gain experience, so I sent a link to my galleries and they selected me. Turns out to be my yoga teacher, so that's great!

Anyway, since it will be my first, I'll do my best but I'm not expecting perfection (though it would be nice!)... but it's great to see the progress everyone has made and to know that we all start somewhere and can end up with amazing quality of work!

Thanks for sharing, everyone! :clap

Here are some shots I've taken as a guest at the weddings:

Had dSLR exactly one month: October 2008. My mom and sister discovered that they had no idea how to bustle the gown:

This is my first real paid wedding:
http://alloutdoor.smugmug.com/gallery/4234449_f3bit

This is the very latest wedding, from last weekend:
http://alloutdoor.smugmug.com/gallery/6429282_v8ver

I like the first one better.
Ally is the most fun to photograph bride I have ever had.
The lighting on the last one was pretty tough, very flat and bright, and the wedding party was not really into it...I had to WORK to get what I did.
