She had just finished feeding her two chicks. Evidently, she felt that I was less of a threat. She totally shocked me when she landed so close. She was not quite close enough to touch, but pretty darn close. I was afraid to back up or move at all. I just framed and shot.
Sorry Ginger, I know you do not like shots of parts of birds. It was the best I could do in the moment.

You might have been lucky that he came that close, but you were prepared to take advantage of that luck. Good work :clap

Hi Kerwin, Ben and Bochie -
Thank you for sharing your comments with me. Having her land so close was a real treat. Mother nature gets credit for the beautiful colors. I just got lucky.

Thank you for your comments. I have been wondering about Mango and Kiwi. How are they doing? What cute puppies. Have they got you trained by now?

Steve -
Thank you! Your comments mean alot. It had been a couple of weeks since I had went out shooting. In case you haven't heard the weather in the Sunshine State has not been sunny. Oh well, I guess you have better luck with photographs, when you are actually taking them.

Hey Gayle,
That is a fine shot. I really like the composition. :clap I'm also jealous of that blue sky. I haven't had one of those on my last 3 visits. :cry

Hi Harry,
Thank you for the nice comments. Especially on the composition. You really did not miss anything the day I took that picture. It rained most of the day, about 4:30 all of the sudden it cleared up. I was at the rookery by 5:00. The rain had cleaned out all the haze and the sky was a beautiful blue. Of course, by the next morning it was overcast and raining again.
