Gary,

Brandon has beautiful eyes!!
And I like the idea. At the risk of being banished I'd like to say that although Andy is convinced it's all about the food :): , I think it's all about the eyes!

This is an old one from 2003 of my daughter and her best friend at the time -

They're certianly MY favorite pair of eyes. :lust

The light was terrible that day, but she was to cold to argue about having her picture taken, which is a rare occurance that I of course, had to seize.
I love the expression that you caught. It's warm in spite of the cold.

I think we see a lot when we look into these eyes. The only thing I would change is that I would clone out the goop from the black dog's eye. I tried it in PS and it takes away a distraction, IMO.

I love them all. The one KT did, the baby, that is special and well presented. I don't have any babies here. We are in monsoon. I might work on my dogs: they have kind of long noses, I tend to focus on the nose. Actually, I tend to forget that I have to get "focus".

that might be project for a rainy day. But I would be using the oncamera, 20D flash. My sunpak does not work at all with this camera. I would sell it, but wouldn't get enough to buy another.

No, they hate that. I might work on it somehow: wonder, they are going to show the 5 day forecast.

Old eyes would be good, too. Mine are the only old ones here.

Taken several weeks ago at a local park. We were hanging out under some trees and noticed we were being lit upon by some of the local residents. This one happened onto the frames of her glasses (probably from her hair).

http://www.speakeasy.org/~markfowler/linked_05302005/IMG_0611_800.jpg

link to slightly larger version: http://www.speakeasy.org/~markfowler/linked_05302005/IMG_0611_1024.jpg

I'm not overly happy with the composition and wish I had been more deliberate, also, the depth of field isn't very deep and cuts diagonally across her face, leaving her left eye slightly OOF in favor of the 'inchworm', but I'm not necessarily disliking the effect. Her right eye + worm came out well and most important of all, she loved the photo so who am I to complain! :D

Thanks for looking!

I just love the intensity of his look. He was just headed off to the starting line. Now, the question is - is this a look of annoyance or focus on the race to come?

What a great collection this has become. I can't resist adding my brother's picture of my niece, even though it's quite amateur-created. Thanks to all of you for being an inspiration to beginners such as myself. Oh, just so you'll know- I was impressed by the smile on Kristy's face; before cropping, the photo shows she's holding a snake!

^^That one is a poor res. version of the original edit. It was desaturated with a mask over the irises and then screen filtered. I wish I had the original, but it was lost on my old computer when it died a few years ago. I would try to edit it with curves or contrast, but I'm at work and just searched out the picture which I posted on a different forum a while ago.

The eyes have it ...

I love the tone of the image. So many b+w images seem flat and muddled shades of grey. Very sharp. That said,I wonder if her eyes aren't just a tad too white. As if in PS they are 255 and they need to be 240-245, maybe less, but only if the overall image isn't altered significantly. Definitely worth hanging on the wall! :bow
