Visited the big triangle track in NE PA over the weekend for the Pocono 500 NASCAR festivities. Rain all day Friday washed out all track activity, but Saturday and Sunday were just about perfect for a weekend at the track.

Saturday morning started out with practice for both the NASCAR and ARCA teams. I took up my favorite spot, right near the entrance to pit road, which gives you a good view of turn 3, the front stretch, and the entrance to the pits.

Tony Stewart spun into the grass during practice, tearing up the nose of his car. He ended up going to his backup car.

Gluing lug nuts to the wheels before the ARCA race, something I've had the pleasure of doing on a number of occasions.

Not much of a racing fan these days--at least that I have the time to watch them. These are nice. The color, variety of subjects and some nice crops too.

Nice series!! One of the things on my Bucket List is to be able to shoot at a NASCAR race - and not from the stands! :wink I can see why the entrance is your favorite spot!

I would love to know what equipment you were using. Do you shoot for a magazine or ??

Nice series! This is the only auto racing series that I haven't had a chance to shoot yet. Back in the days when I shot 35mm film, I was friends with the track maintence supervisor for the 12 Hours of Sebring, and all the Miami races. I actually was a mechanic and I maintained all his vehicles, and his tips were free tickets to all the races that he worked. Of all of them, my all time favorite was the Sebring race. A very close second was the very first Indy race held at Tamiami Park, and Third was the Grand Prix of Miami. Those 3 races allowed me to just about walk completely around the track and shoot with some of the Pro's. Lately I've been into shooting Drag Racing, and I'm planning on shooting at Maple Grove when the PRO's roll into town this fall. If anyone else is planning on attending this event, give me a hollar, and we can meet up somewhere there.

WOW :bow

Did you have special access or did you get these shots with pit pass access?

I have went to five nascar races but have not got a pit pass ticket yet.
I checked on getting a pit pass for the Lowe's motor speedway and they where $200 plus your ticket price.

Thanks for posting,
Chuck
