I took a trip over to Shenandoah (http://www.nps.gov/shen/) the other day. I first decided to cross Skyline Drive and go over to the town of Luray which is in the Shenandoah Valley. This is their "Singing Tower" - a bell tower that has 47 bells to play music.

The wind was starting to kick up because a storm was moving in. The trees were moving so they're not as sharp as they could have been.

I proceeded into the park and drove around on Skyline Drive while the storm blew over. Here is a shot of the back side of the storm line (I have a couple shots of the storm moving through the valley and I was looking down on it from the mountain - haven't found a way yet to present them decently so I won't post them here)

I ended the day with nice sunset - not super colorful but still nice.

It wasn't a day filled to the brim with good shots, but it was worth it. I got a few shots of a deer that I posted in the Wildlife forum here (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=13354). A couple shots before I got to Shenandoah are here (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=13315).

My other photos from the Shenandoah area can be found in this gallery (http://philu.smugmug.com/gallery/15751) which dates back to when I first started with the camera.

Oh, my, lovely shooting, Phil.

Just lovely. And the processing is good, too. I like that you did not over saturate the sunset. And love the IR, I assume that is what it is.

nice,
ginger

Yup - that's IR. I know what you mean, it's always tempting to over saturate sunsets. I did give it a nice bump but I think this looks pretty close to how it did in person. Thanks for giving me a little reassurance that it wasn't to much.

Well then, it's even better coming from someone who is not an IR junkie. Thanks man.

That was something kind of unique. I was happy to see it happening. Thanks!

can I do IR in Photoshop?

Thanks! Actually the answer is almost yes. There are a few IR actions that do a reasonable job of approximating the look of IR from a regular color image. Do a search for "IR Action" - should turn up something.
