making a "text only" watermark

okay... so I know i've done it before but I cannot figure out how to do it again. I want to turn my logo into a watermark on my smugmug site. So far I have stamped my signature onto a "transparent" background on photoshop and saved it as a "gif" file. When I try to send the file to smugmug it flattens the file turing the background white. How do I go about sending (or saving) my watermark file so that its text only without a background??? Thanks ahead of time!

BSave it as a transparent PNG, even better than a gif. Be sure you use 'Save For Web' that'll keep the transparency.
