image redirect -- why?

I'm using a gallery feed (rss2) and trying to display one of the items in an item's media group. The url is http://photos.coloradocollege.edu/photos/539713120_a6ebH-M.jpg however when I go to that url, it seems to redirect to http://photos.coloradocollege.edu/photos/539713120_a6ebH-S.jpg

As far as I know, this wasn't happening yesterday but today, its happening with all the images in that gallery's feed. :scratch

Any suggestions how I can get the image I want?

Your gallery is set to allow no size larger than Medium. I can freely view either:

or

http://photos.coloradocollege.edu/photos/539634165_idnk7-S.jpg (http://photos.coloradocollege.edu/photos/539634165_idnk7-S.jpg)

If I try to view a larger size like:

it just shows me the medium size because of your gallery settings.

oddly, the problem fixed itself. for a couple hours this morning, it would only show me Small images. i did not change the gallery settings.

i guess it was some system glitch.

Hi Karen. This is expected behavior and not a bug. You've got Medium sizes allowed in that gallery but your Originals are only 287x350.

Small images are up to 400x300 and Medium are up to 600x450. Since your original is smaller than medium we don't create one. So the largest display size we can make from that image is the Small size. That's why we only display the Small size when you request the Medium.

Thanks, Nick. This makes sense. The inconsistent behavior of some having Medium images and some not is what was throwing me off. Its all fixed now.
