hello everyone! :wave

Another newbie here! I contribute to a couple of the forums on DPR, and stumbled across this site one day. There seems to be a great community here, with a lot of excellent photographers. So I thought I'd get in on the action! :D

I've only really been seriously interested in photography for about a year now when I bought my Fuji S7000. It was a slipperly slope and I soon became an addict. I then upgraded to a Nikon D70 a couple of months ago and I've been enjoying every minute of it.

So, I thought I'd post some pictures taken last weekend for your comments and suggestions.

I went up to Glencoe (Scotland) last Sunday with a friend but the weather was terrible. We only managed a few shots at Loch na h-Achlaise before the heavens opened and we had to make quick retreat...

But not to be defeated, we went up again the next day when the weather was much better. We found a nice little spot on the way up at Loch Lomond, and got a few shots...

Next stop - Loch Tulla, where we found some interesting trees...

I can't decide if I prefer this one in b+w, what d'ya think? http://john.stuwee.org/albums/glencoe3/DSC_4616_copy_2_web.sized.jpg

Then we stopped at Loch na h-Achlaise. I like the way the colours turned out in this IR shot...

There was definitely a tree theme for the day, and our last one was found on Rannoch Moor, just as the sun was setting...

You have some very nice shots here. In particular, this one really grabbed me. Are you using a modded D70, or just long exposure IR?

Thanks a lot. I should really have said, the IR shots are just long exposures with the Hoya R72. I usually start off at about 2 secs at f/10 and then adjust accordingly.

Thanks again! :D

FredThanks for the nice welcome Fred, glad you like the shots. The IR shots are just taken with the Hoya R72 filter. I shoot them in manual and usually start off at 2 secs at f/10. I also use a preset white balance which is taken off an area of grass.

Cheers,

John
