Text Block on Category Page

I have several category pages, each with several galleries. ( See http://www.usdgcphotos.com/2009 for one instance)

I would like to put a small block of explanatory text at the top of each page, above the galleries.

What would be the method?

I've also tried pasting the code from post #83 in the thread on this in the FAQ and nothing shows up on my site, so if someone can take a look at it and tell me what I've done wrong (others said it worked), I'd appreciate it.
